Hi all! I’m a little late on this, but I wanted to share some work from one of my recent projects. I contributed some art to a Ludum Dare submission by Bakenshake, Griddolini, and Golden. The theme was “your life is currency”, so they came up with this cool game where you’re the guardian of the forest, and you can use your life force to create reinforcements. You can check it out here! https://bakenshake09.itch.io/force-of-nature
The game was submitted a few weeks ago, and I’m not sure where we ended up ranking, but it was another great experience!
I got to draw the main character, a pretty badass ent.

Animation is SUPER HARD, and I have mad respect for anyone who can do it. It was my first time doing anything with this much motion. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, considering. There’s something super satisfying about seeing your creation come to life and stomp around on a bunch of tree-hating goblins.

I also made these slightly more boring trees. Their leaves rustle. They don’t stomp anything.
But my favorite is probably this guy:

Look how happy he is!! π I love how he turned out. He doesn’t really do anything. He just hops around in the background and adds some color. He was inspired by my dog, Renly.

Do you see the resemblance? π
Overall, this project was a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to doing more soon. Pixel art is really starting to grow on me, and I really enjoy the challenge of creating art for game jams. Of course, I’m not experiencing half the challenge of the rest of the team who have to like, actually code stuff. I’m glad they let me play with them.
